Ornitholestes was a small bipedal dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic Period, approximately 150 million years ago. It was about 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) in length and weighed around 27 kg (60 lbs). Ornitholestes had sharp, curved claws that it likely used to catch small prey such as birds and lizards, hence its name which means "bird robber."
The skull of Ornitholestes was long and narrow, with large eye sockets that suggest it had good eyesight. It had serrated teeth that were designed for eating meat. Ornitholestes had long arms with sharp claws and three-fingered hands. It also had long, muscular legs that gave it great agility and speed.
Ornitholestes lived alongside other dinosaurs such as Allosaurus and Stegosaurus, and its fossils have been found in what is now North America. Despite its small size, Ornitholestes was a formidable predator and would have posed a threat to smaller animals in its environment.
